A hard-working, honest, dependable, self-motivated person to act as church caretaker/cleaner,
willing to uphold the Church ethos and support the aims and the values of the church.
Duties and Responsibilities
Opening and closing, unlocking and locking of church gates and buildings.
Register as main Key Holder and be the first point of contact in an emergency callout situations.
Overall security of the church premises including the locking of all windows and doors and the drawing of window blinds.
Upkeep and general care of the church.
Unlocking and re-locking bins in preparation for pick-up.
Ensuring that external rubbish is stored appropriately.
Cleaning and tidying the internal church building in all designated areas.
Cleaning of internal glass, internal and external door glass and internal side of external windows.
Cleaning of external windows at ground level.
Sweep yards, pick up litter and be responsible for the removal of all debris from paths, grassed areas, flowerbeds and all entrances.
To empty internal communal rubbish bins.
Ensuring that the cleaning of toilets and toilet areas are done, and the replenishment of toiletries is carried out.
Lettings as required – opening, closing and general duties.
Preparation of hall for functions as required.
Ensure that a clear passage is maintained on fire escape routes.
Test fire alarms weekly. Maintain test register.
Report any defects of building, furniture, fittings and equipment to the Pastor and Leaders of the church.
Keep paths and entrances free of ice and snow to ensure the safety of church members and visitors.
Be responsible for ordering cleaning equipment.
Monitor the work of contractors working on site.
The switching off of all lights and appropriate electric plug sockets.
Ensure that all lights and heating are working effectively.
Keep the reading records of Gas and Electricity meters.
Cleaning Jesus centre.

Hours of Work
The cleaning time table should be arranged with the Pastor or Sister Josephine (caretaker responsible).
However, variations to these times may be necessary on certain occasions when meetings, building work, functions etc are held at the church. Any variation will be notified in advance by the Church Pastor or church Leaders.
The Cleaner/caretaker will be required to complete a time sheet each week which should be submitted it to the Pastor or church Leaders.
Ending of employment
A minimum of four week’s notice should be given by Pastor or church leaders terminating employment. In the case were the caretaker wishes to resign they must give at least four weeks notice to Pastor or a church leader.
A DBS criminal records check (formerly known as CRB) is required for this post as the role involves Regulated Activity as described in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006.
