Youth Worker

Job Title: Youth Worker

Organisation: East Ham Baptist Church, 236 Plashet Grove, East Ham E6 1DA

Hours: 15 hours per week

Salary: £10,000 - £11,000.00 per year

Three Years post, can be renewed

JOB SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the Youth Worker is to introduce young people to Christ; to disciple them in spiritual growth; to train them in serving Christ with their life. Of equal importance is to assist parents or guardians in raising their teenagers to a wholesome maturity, and to oversee and support the activity of the Church Sunday School.
The church is willing to train a person who has the calling and vision for youth work (at a theological collage).

SUPERVISION

Report to: Rev. Jeremiah Dawood
Position(s) Lead, Support, and Supervise Youth & Sunday school leaders.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL

Must be a born-again believer with a maturing relationship with Christ.
Must show a faithful pursuit of leadership characteristics as listed in 1Tim.3.
He/she must see his/her position as having a strong desire to serve God in the position.
Must subscribe to the Constitution and doctrinal statement of the church. He/she must become a member of the church as soon as possible.
Able to work on a flexible basis, including evenings and weekends, as required.
PREFERABLE

A graduate or student of a Bible college or willing to be trained.
Willing to learn to teach, train, and disciple youth workers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the Youth Worker shall include the following:

GENERAL

Participate in worship services when requested.
Attend & teach Sunday school, worship services, and other events of church as time allows.
Continue growth and development through conferences, reading, and exchange of ideas with others.
ACCOUNTABILITY FACTORS

Attend monthly meeting with youth and Sunday School leaders for prayer and planning.
Attend monthly feedback session with Senior Pastor.
Review and discuss annual job performance evaluation.
Present holiday request to the Church Leadership at least one month in advance. It will be the responsibility of the Church Leadership to secure replacement coverage as needed.
BENEFITS

Gross salary package of £10,000.00 - £11,000.00 per year.
Any life insurance, or pension plans desired will be deducted from the gross salary.
National insurance contribution paid in standard fashion.
REQUIREMENTS

A DBS criminal records check (formerly known as CRB) is required for this post as the role involves Regulated Activity as described in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006.
There is an occupational requirement for the role holder to be a Christian in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 Part 1, Schedule 9.
Working Visa/ British or EU Passport.
